The Liberators Show Band of Tulsa, Oklahoma was founded in May of 1972. It was a popular dance band featuring a four-man horn section that also performed lead vocals, and a three-piece rhythm section. The members were:

Mitchell "Doonie" Edwards: Drums
Darryl Matthews: Congas & Percussion
Michael "Slide" Jennings: Trombone, Trumpet, Choreography
Lawrence Brown: Trumpet
Marshall "Peepers" Bryant: Tenor Sax
Charles "Sonny" Tarver: Trumpet & Rhythm Guitar
